STRATHMORE, AB - The Rimbey Rock scored a big win on Saturday in Strathmore, scoring two big third period goals in a 4-3 victory over the Wheatland Kings. Cale Walker scored the winning goal for the Rock on the powerplay, early in the final frame. The Rock went 2-for-5 with the man advantage while their penalty killers were solid, stopping all five Strathmore oppertunities with the extra man. Aaron Shukin kept Rimbey in this one, stopping 43 of 46 shots.

COALDALE, AB - Despite a 3-goal first period, the Coaldale Copperheads couldn't hold on to the lead, and were eventually overtaken by the Red Deer Vipers. The Copperheads led 3-2 after the opening 20, but the Vipers managed to tie it up in the second on a goal from JD Morrical, his 13th of the season. However, in the third, it was all Red Deer, as the Vipers put four in the back of the Coaldale net, turning this one into a rout. Justin Moir led the Vipers with two goals, and one helper.

COCHRANE, AB - After a slow start to the New Year, the Airdrie Thunder exploded offensively on Saturday night, as they scored a 7-4 victory over the Cochrane Generals. Both teams exchanged goals back and forth through 40 minutes of action, with both Airdrie and Cochrane connecting twice on the powerplay. But much like the Red Deer Vipers did in Coaldale, the Thunder scored three goals in the third period to put this one out of reach. Josh Robertson scored his 20th and 21st goals of the year to lead Airdrie to victory.

BANFF, AB - A huge win to help the Banff Academy Bears keep their playoff hopes alive against a team they're chasing in the Central Division. The Bears scored a convincing 4-1 victory over the Mountainview Colts on home ice. With both teams tied after the first and second periods, the Bears took over in the third with Brett Michell, Nick Crosby and Zack Wildman all scoring in the final five minutes to give Banff the edge, and a huge boost to their playoff hopes.
